Yes, that's right; you don't know who the chap is; the only thing is, when he laughs you see he's got capped teeth, and therefore he must belong to chat shows! And the sad thing - people sitting around telling other people what was on the telly the previous night..

People attended to each other; one was aware of being important and being present; there was no modesty in life. People were present in each other's lives all the time, and they had the time for conversation and they had time to listen.


Is this necessarily a bad thing? Is this a loss?


DH: Yes, I am saying this is a loss, because I think we exist in the reflection of each other's eyes, and when this is withdrawn, when this is not available, people clamour for attention as they clamour for affection......



      Dick Dock: Grandad ....next Spring ........you will come up again?

      Granded Dock: Of course.

      Dick Dock: And you, Uncle Jim?

      Jim Dock: Every time.....we'll always come up, won't we? All of us, every Spring.

      Granded Dock: Of course; we're Perennials!!
