BBC Radio 3: Sunday Play
Broadcast: Sunday 16th August 1998 @ 9:50 p.m.
Ronald Frame's play, "Havisham", creates an alternative past for Charles Dickens' character from "Great Expectations", Miss Catherine
Haversham. In just a few sentences of "Great Expectations", Charles Dickens sketches in the bare bones of a history for the character of
Miss Havisham, the old woman who sits in a shuttered old house in her soiled bridal dress, as she has done since the day she was jilted
many years before. Ronald Frame's play asks how she got to be in that state.
With Emma Fielding [Catherine Havisham], Liam Brennan [Charles Compeyson], James Bryce [Mr. Havisham], Michael Perceval-Maxwell
[Arthur], Emma Currie [Isabella], Noreen Leighton [Marianne], Joanna Tope [Lady Chadwyck], and Gregor Powrie [William].
Other parts were played by members of the cast.
Directed by Patrick Rayner in Edinburgh
