Potatoes - Violette
Another French blue-fleshed potato. The skin colour is bluish-purple, almost the same as Salad Blue, but the tuber shape is slightly different. The flesh is darker, and the flowers are blue, occurring in smaller clusters than on the salad blue plant, and producing no potato fruit. However my plants in containers produced no flowers.
This is a good-flavoured floury variety and grows well in pots. The tubers are rather elongated so wouldn't handle well if grown commercially. Yield around 2lb from a 3 gallon container.
