NOTES ON SOME OF THE PLAYS

HOLIDAY HOME....2000
An idyllic holiday cottage on a Welsh mountainside is symbolic of a marriage restored through a long, hot summer. But then the rains come, and the cracks start to appear. With Mark Chatterton, Deborah McAndrew, Martine Brown and Jack Townley. Directed by Michael Fox.

DRY SHERRY....1999
In this comedy, Natalie takes on the organization of her ex-mother-in-law's funeral. Natalie manages brilliantly until Marion, the first ex-daughter-in-law, arrives uninvited and very much against the deceased's wishes. With Deborah McAndrew and Gilian Cally. Director Michael Fox.

THE CIRCLE....1999
03.06.99. Last in a six-part comedy series by Elizabeth Baines. `Holding the Baby'. As Mike's big snooker match approaches and a variety of underhand dealings come to a head, a childcare crisis occurs for the babysitting circle. Who will be left holding the baby? With Sherrie Hewson and John McArdle. Director Andy Jordan.

SWEET BLOOD....1998
Ellie is captivated by the dangerous charm of her mysterious new boyfriend, Zol. But as their relationship develops and his strange behaviour continues, she finally begins to understand his true nature - and that of his wild biker gang. With Rebecca Callard and Con O'Neill. Director Diane Whitley.

THE BABY BUGGY....1989
By Elizabeth Baines, 16 Aug 89, Afternoon Play. A series of short scenes follows two friends as one of them, Di, experiences motherhood from the announcement of her pregnancy to a fuller understanding of the practical and emotional implications of modern motherhood for a middle-aged working woman, as embodied in her baby's pram. A very literary play, more about concept than plot.
