Potatoes - Epicure

This potato was bred by James Clark in Hampshire just before 1900. It's floury, round in shape, and has a very good flavour. It's a reliable cropper and matures rapidly in pots, so blight is not usually a problem. It's rated at 4 for leaf blight.

It flowers freely but does not normally set seed; blooms are white and yellow. Yield in pots is not high (around 2lb in a 3 gallon container) but cooking quality is very good, and the tubers have few blemishes. Good for boiling (though will disintegrate if not watched carefully) - it's really better steamed. Dry matter 7.
