English Apples - Gloster 69

Really a German apple; raised 1951 at Jork Fruit Research Station, nr. Hamburg, West Germany. Widely planted in Northern Europe, also in N. Italy for export. Glockenapfel x Richared Delicious. As sweet as Red Delicious but more acidic. Dual purpose.

Tree is strong enough to support a heavy crop without breaking branches. Stores until Mar-Apr. Pick Mid- Oct. Self-fertile and late flowering, avoiding frosts. Flowers at same time as Jester, Jonagold and Suntan; the next to Crawley Beauty, which is the latest of all. (G.D., IOW)
