Damson - Merryweather

I have grown this plum for many years.

It has the flavour of a damson but the fruit is much bigger.

The blossom is out in about the third week of april (a few days after Magnum Bonum and about a fortnight after the smaller bullace-type plums planted as flowering prunus) and can withstand mild frosts.

It crops most years. If it has a very heavy year it sometimes takes the next year off.

The plums keep for about a week and ripen over a 2-3 week period.
