Potatoes - Pentland Hawk

Scotland, 1960s. Maincrop. White, smooth-skinned, slightly elongated tubers. Good flavour. Floury variety. I saw no flowers on these plants on the single occasion I grew them in pots. Yield about 1.5lbs. Slow growing; blight resistance about 4. They store well without sprouting; better than many varieties.

Alan Wilson's book describes them as less popular than Pentland Crown or Pentland Dell, but a good variety nevertheless. It was intended for the supermarket trade and keeps well. Unfortunately it is susceptible to eelworm.
