GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS....2005
R3, 20 Mar 05. Adapted from his 1984 stage play by David Mamet. It's about four foul-mouthed Chicago salemen trying to sell plots of land by whatever means they can. The top salesman each month wins a Cadillac, the second a set of steak knives, and two lose their jobs. Levene, one of the salesmen, knows that his best days are behind him and tries to bribe the office manager for some of the better leads. Some of the others talk about stealing these leads from the office files. With Alfred Molina, Stacey Keach, Hector Elizondo, Bruce Davison, Richard Cox, Kristoffer Tabori, Chris Hatfield.
Three people are about to start work in a call centre. Lots of opportunity for dealing with disgruntled, demanding and needy callers. How will the new recruits fare, and what will they do with the unexpected? More information on Lynn Truss's page. One of the best plays of 2003.
21 DOG YEARS....2004
A dot-com play, about working in the days of the industry prior to the meltdown of 1999.
Interesting play about the conflict between two ways of living: career go-getters and less ambitious, often "family" types who want a quiet life ("losers", as some of the career men will have it). The problem, however, is that we all have to die...
WAITING FOR THE EARTH TO MOVE....1998
Outstanding play about the financier Nick Leeson, and how he brought about the downfall of a major bank. See John Fletcher's page for more information.
R4,22 Jul 97; excellent play set in an advertising
agency call centre.
Comedy involving an insurance salesman and a lonely housewife.
