English Apples - Witney Deerpark

Quite late winter dessert apple, small, hard, found next to the Deer Park, Witney, Oxfordshire, 2003. Tree grafted; pictures to follow soon. Apples sometimes stay on tree until January but usually ready end-Oct. These apples are rather like Ribston; a similar shape and colour but smaller, firmer, sweeter and have less russet. They are also scented.

After 4 weeks off the tree, Nov 2011, vitamin C content was 1.4 mg per 100g fruit. This is much lower than Ribston and confirms that it is a different variety.
