The Ekegusii Project

Ekegusii Encyclopedic Projects
A lot has been done. The next stage is to expand the work so that others can contribute.

To begin this phase I need funding. There is a limit to what I can do alone. The project needs:

    1. COMMUNICATIONS
A website, internet facilities, money for transport (see Notes below).

    2. STIPEND
Money to pay lead researcher, field and office clerks.

    3. OFFICE EQUIPMENT
Stationery, two computers, two printers, audio-visual equipment for presentations.

    4. OFFICE FACILITIES
Office and furniture (currently working from rented family home).

    5. ALLOWANCES
    For editors and proof-readers.

    6. PHOTOGRAPHY
Two digital cameras, and at least one video camera.

    7. GENERATOR
Portable, for use in the more remote areas.

    NOTES

Recently I decided to register "Ekegusii Encyclopedic Projects" as a Community Based Organization with the Government, whose objectives are part of the brief.

Technically I have been working alone, using my own limited resources, although some volunteers have been assisting with data collection. I am paying a clerk/typist to compile data. The office needs to accommodate 10-15 people so that conferencing is possible.

We will require the use of a vehicle to traverse the area in search of data/material; needs to be suited to hilly and rough terrain.

We will also need a portable generating set for use in the interior areas (where the National Power grid is non-existent) for seminars, workshops, interviews, etc.

I have yet to receive any material or financial assistance. However, the International Centre for Writing and Translation (ICWT), University of California, has promised a grant of $2,500 (two thousand five hundred dollars) towards the next stage.

If you can help with funding, or give a donation, or can assist with any of the above, please contact me.
