The Ekegusii Projects -
May 2007

Data collection: (Lexicon - words and vocabulary, excluding work on cultural and other practices) is now 95% complete. Very few words remain to be done.

85% of the field work has been done.

60% of the translation is done.

There remains: collation, editing, some translation, proof reading, and the final typing.

$140,334 is still needed for the final data gathering, $69,739 for editing, translation, proof reading and typing out the fine copy of the manuscript; total $210.073.

I am still looking for backers and am constantly making inquiries, writing proposals and making applications for funding.

I am set to appear before elders 17 - 24 May to wind up the data collection phase and carry out interviews on:

Ceremonies, rites, observances
Administration and Governance
Health and Medicine
Song and Dance
Arts and Crafts
Religion and Worship
Genealogy

I now have access to a small camcorder and a digital camera so will be able to take some useful pictures along the way.

K.B.
